Daniel, thanks for posting the link, to your beautifully written essay, in your reply to Travis Longcore’s op-ed “I Stand With Linda Sue Beck.” Your writing touched places near and dear to my heart, as I also spent several formative summers studying archaeology and lithic technology at the Malheur Field Station. I came to love that place and country in the way that you describe so well and still visit the area at least once a year.

The terrorist occupation of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge is finally drawing to a close. I hope, for their own sake, that the four remaining occupiers turn themselves in peacefully. I hope.

Maybe we’ll meet some day on the Basin and Range?
