Sharon! How nice to see a familiar name pop up in the recommended comments! I’ve been doing Node.js development for a couple of months now, and despite the many pitfalls and oddities of Javascript I’ve been really enjoying it. It was difficult at first to fully wrap my mind around the asynchronous model, but now I’m busy taming the “callback hell” that a couple of less experienced developers have created earlier in the project. I couldn’t agree more with Gary’s article. It pretty much mirrors my own experience (at the ripe old age of 41) trying to remain invested and valuable as a software developer. Learn, learn, learn, strike ahead fearlessly, and get at least some exercise to keep the brain cylinders firing.
