As people age and become afflicted with various medical problems, they might lose their ability to live independently. This article will give you a few of the many indications that it is no longer safe for your loved one to live independently.

Medications can become dangerous if not taken correctly. The strength and frequency of medication consumption, for example, are important. Also, some medications do not mix well with other medications. The more medications your loved one takes, the greater the chances of your loved one taking them incorrectly. Going with your loved one to doctor appointments will help you to understand better your loved one’s medical problems and the medications to address them.

Have you noticed any of your loved one’s unpaid bills that are long overdue? Cars can be taken back. Power and phone service can be cut off. Prevention of these avoidable possibilities will be much less time consuming than any remedial efforts.

Is your loved one’s car damaged from an apparent accident? Driving it can become dangerous for your loved one, especially if your loved one’s car is not well maintained.

Has your loved one become a hoarder such that one must carefully walk the “goat trails” through the loved one’s house? This will increase the chances of falls that can seriously injure your loved one.

If your loved one will not be serious about crime and fraud prevention, your loved one is more likely to become a victim. Crime victims can lose not only their money, but also their lives.

Food can be a problem. Spoiled food can be dangerous if your loved one consumes it. Junk food can lead to eventual health problems. Careless stove habits can cause a fire.

The above are only a few of the many indications you should watch for to help your loved one live safely and well. This is important. As 1 Timothy 5:8 reads. “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

Do you have anything to add to this list?
