One slogan about first aid training is, “Train to beat the threat.” There are, indeed, many people whose medical conditions make them vulnerable to threats such as heart attacks and strokes. Furthermore, everyone is potentially vulnerable to accidents such as auto crashes or the choking on food.

First aid training can give you the confidence to administer effective first aid. By doing so, you could minimize the risk that an endangered person would suffer a permanent disability or even death.

Some people might hesitate to step up to such an emergency for fear that they might be sued if they do not perform as well as needed. There are, however, good Samaritan laws that help to keep that from happening.

Other people might hesitate to give mouth-to-mouth CPR. Fortunately, there now is available a CPR face shield that is compact enough to be carried on a keychain.

In Luke 10:25–37 the parable of the Good Samaritan describes how the Samaritan cared for a wounded traveler who was victimized by robbers. Those who have first aid training, however, might also use their training to rescue a friend or a family member.

Having a good first aid kit available is a good practice to follow. It is helpful to have one at home, in your car, and at work.

There are many ways for you to obtain first aid training. You can get such training from commercial vendors and from the American Red Cross. Another alternative is to watch UTUBE videos.

During a medical emergency, time is of essence. It takes time for an ambulance to reach a victim and transport him or her to a hospital. If the victim has a time sensitive emergency, your rapid first aid can make a big difference in the eventual outcome for the victim.

Have you ever had or used first aid training?
