You should consider buying a stationary bike

This article will discuss why stationary bikes are greatly underrated as a method of exercise. One problem, for example, that people have with stationary bikes is that people feel that stationary bikes are boring because the exercise is done inside of a house, and there is no change of scenery as with a regular bike. Actually, when it is not too dark, too hot, too cold, or too windy, or when it is not raining or snowing, people can exercise outdoors. When outdoors exercise is not a good option, however, people can use indoor bikes while they watch TV or DVDs.

Stationary bikes also can save a family money and time. There is, for example, no electricity cost as there is with a treadmill. Also, there is no time lost or gas consumed because there is no driving to and from a bike path.

Some exercisers might choose to ride their bikes on roads that are around their houses. Sharing the road with cars, however, always is more risky than riding on a dedicated bike path or on a stationary bike at home. Also, bike riders on roads will be breathing in car exhaust fumes.

Bike paths, however, also have risks. There is enough crime on some bike paths to warrant bike path police patrols.

Stationary bikes also are a good form of exercise for elderly people. On stationary bikes, elderly people are not exposed to extremes of weather, and they have no risk of falling off their bikes and fracturing their fragile bones.

In addition, stationary bikes that are adjustable will allow young children to exercise on them. Those young children who see adults exercising on the stationary bikes might be inspired to put down their computer games, get off their sofas, and spend more time exercising.

It is important, before buying a stationary bike, to sit in it and pedal it. The bike should feel comfortable, even if buying that comfortable model requires paying more money. Many people, for example, will prefer a recumbent bike that has a flat seat and a backrest.

The more dangerous, time consuming, or expensive it is to exercise, the more likely it is that people will not form a habit of regular exercise. Stationary bikes are a safe form of exercise that save time and money. Stationary bikes can be the regular form of exercise or a backup form of exercise. Thus, they can be a valuable part of an exercise routine.

My book has much more information about exercise.
