Programmable Organic Construction

Start from seed.

Place the seed in a germination medium inside a growth tube.

The growth tube is black on the inside with a light at the end. It can be small and placed in any orientation over the plant and the plant will grow toward the light.

As the plant grows in the desired direction, slide the growth tube and change the orientation to construct your design.

During growth, balance the roots with the foliage. Depending on your design, cover the roots with pre-cast molds, cover from light to avoid branches, or add growth tubes. The root molds can take any shape, be injected with hydroponic nutrients and oxygenated water, and potentially removed once filled with root.

Construction can be rooted and remain alive or cut and movable. Lacquer or epoxy can be added to make strong, smooth surfaces.

Now have machines monitor the plant growth and mechanically move the growth tubes and root molds.

Program the machines to grow furniture — or an entire a village.

Although impractical today, I’m putting this out there as prior art so that nobody can patent and own this idea.
