Just a thought: on alternative ways of working
It’s Friday and I have apparently been working from home all week. Before the pandemic I would have to plan for days when I would work from home, now it’s become the other way around; I plan for days when I will work from the office. If I don’t make plans to go in to the office, I’ll work from home.
I’m lucky to have a job where I have the option to work from home. Working from home is something that makes the other puzzle pieces in my life fall into place in a more harmonic way.
It makes me wonder if there are other ways of working that has just happened to become the norm that we are not challenging. There must be alternatives to the current “default” ways that could benefit some people that we have yet to try out, or that some people are reluctant to try out. I know things like office spaces and working hours are already being questioned and becoming more flexible and adaptable to fit individual needs, but maybe there are even more fundamental aspects of ways of working that we are not experimenting with.
