Nusantara Records x DAOrecords are proud to drop the Music NFT for A House of Tribes performed by the Lawrence Wright Jazz Ensemble (LWJE), the creative brainchild of musician, composer and producer Q Sound. This instrumental track opens with an infectious melody that sets the mood for a care free walk on a sunny day. Stimulated by the sound and textures of the envi- ronment, you may break into a dance midway through the song. The intentions behind this single go deeper.

Within every successful tribe, another tribe is born from the sons of daughters of the originating family. The tribal house is the parameter that can unify family, life, nature or even consciousness. The message of the song is to hold love and respect for each other and to pass down this message of unity through every tribal generation, from our children to the elders.

We may all come from different cultures and ethnicity, yet we ultimately share the same wants and basic needs. The LWJE listener should feel uplifted and hopeful, through the subtle timbre of the rhythm or dancing melodies of the flute. ‘House of Tribes’ shares a message of love, respect and unity with each other, with acknowledgement that sometimes the deepest messages are whispered to us in song.

The song has an Afro Jazz influence, and carries the tradition of 19th century programmatic music where instruments carried the narrative a song without vocal or text. ‘A House of Tribes’ is the contemporary answer to this, with each melody and rhythm line, telling a musical story that pushes the song forward and evolves the message. As the music and mood swells, LWJE imagines the listener pondering life’s most challenging questions about love and mortality. LWJE shares music from a place that has endured love, pain and sorrow and channels that into tunes that can excite our senses to express the true passion felt when reflecting on our own lives.

Lawrence Wright Jazz Ensemble (LWJE)

The Lawrence Wright Jazz Ensemble (LWJE) ensemble is comprised of drums, bass, key- boards, synths, trombone and sax, and occasionally augmenting its core group to include additional instruments such as trumpet or the flute. The sound of the group captured audiences with its high energy EDM infused performances. Developing a reputation for having a unique sound, LWJE quickly began performing in the top Jazz Festivals in SE Asia which included Publika Jazz Festival in 2018 and Iskandar Jazz Festival in 2019.

The band is based around a fictional protagonist, Lawrence Wright, a jazz musician fixated on ideas of spirituality and questions about the universal laws. His deep interest permeated through his compositions with intense narratives somewhat mirroring the concepts of classical composers like Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler.

The world has clearly changed from what it was 10 years ago. In this new space of social media as a mandatory part of our daily existence, society is left in a precarious predicament: How do we stay connected to our inner spirit? How do we forge ahead while upholding the value of our individuality? In the world of Lawrence Wright, the best moments in life are sim- ply felt through the music and in the spaces it creates for serendipity and fate. Let LWJE be your soundtrack for exploring your possibilities.
