In a world that is more polarized every day, my time living around the world has put forth the power of human connections. I believe that connected communities in which all members have a space for social and political participation are the basis to reduce social inequalities. As a global citizen, I feel the responsibility to leave behind a better world and I am honored by your support as I embark on this journey.
The Global Advocate fellowship with MAMA HOPE is a unique opportunity for me to turn theses convictions into actions. I am working with two exceptional organizations in Guatemala that empower local communities. Like me, Ingrid and Rafael, the founders of Tejiendo Futuros and Sotz’il, respectively, believe that indigenous communities will own their place in society through reconnecting with their cultural heritage and their political rights, ultimately reducing social injustice and creating a better world.

· Tejiendo Futuros is a holistic education center currently counting 60 students. This fundraising will support the creation of an eco-farm project with three objectives:
- To provide healthy diets for the children and their families
- To generate an income to pay for the school expenses
- To increase environmental awareness and responsibility of the community.
· Sotz’il is an organization and cultural center that spreads ancestral wisdom through the creation of art and empowers indigenous populations to be involved in the spiritual, social and political life of their communities. This fundraising will help expand sustainability projects of the organization and support their journey toward financial autonomy.
I will live among the community for four months this winter to support their efforts and share the amazing work that they do, while guaranteeing that the projects achieves sustainability in every sense of the word — financially, socially, and environmentally.
