This Revolution Was Televised (Politics in the 21st Century)

Picture this, a civil rights activist of the 1960s is, in 2016, leading a popular sit-in protest in the Capitol that is being broadcast through social media by a mobile phone.

You don’t need to picture it, this happened last week.

The world has we know it is changing. And politics is a good reflection of most of the change. Before our very own eyes, we’ve seen changes that many could not have predicted as late as five years ago.

A billionaire capitalist is speaking for middle America that have lost jobs as a result of capitalism.

A 76 year old speaking up for millennials.

A woman speaking up for male-dominated Wall Street.

A Muslim speaking up for the greatest city in the West.

A blond posh member of the metropolitan elite speaking up for middle England.

The United Kingdom breaking up the European Union.

My sense is that the global financial crisis changed a lot more than the economic. The seeds that we planted then were taking root all these years and we are now beginning to see shoots of a revolution.

And this could just be the beginning.
