My (not too shabby) Ceiling Fan Makeover

I let my kids choose paint colors for their bedrooms when we first moved into our house, and my daughter chose this really nice dark gray. My husband spent a weekend prepping, hanging crown then painting his little heart out, and it looks pretty frickin fantastic — if I do say so myself.

The makeover even got a nod of approval from the teenager. No easy thing to achieve. But after everything was dry, it was time to re-hang the fan, and I just didn’t want to put that lame ugly old generic white fan back up.

So I decided to make it a little more fantastic.

My inspiration for the fan came from a chair makeover I pinned ages ago. I really liked the lace look, but I didn’t want that much contrast since most of the stuff in her room is gray, black, or white.

She doesn’t do much in the way of color (not since starting high school), and I knew she wouldn’t agree to any sort of bright or flashy colors.

To stave off the great color revolt, I went for a subtle lace effect using a flat black on a satin black. It came out exactly as I hoped, and she actually ended up giving my fan makeover a nod of…
