People go through many phases in their lives. Some are born into very religious families and become ardent followers of religion. When they become teenagers, some become rebellious and give up religion altogether. Others keep believing. Some others come back to the fold later in life. None of us has a genuine ability to judge anyone else on their propensity to believe or not to believe. This article argues believing can be more beneficial than not believing.
People following many denominations like the followers of many forms of Christianity, Judaism or Islam identify religion with God. According to the Wikipedia page on the list of religious populations (as per data on the 3rd of January in 2023) there are more than 55% of people believing in God, a supreme Being who created us and everything else around us. It is commonly believed that with the diffusion of Darwinian ideas into the wider society, many people started to view religion with a critical eye.
