Weather challenge — MEN’s packlist

One of the most important things (after deciding where to eat of course 😆 ) when coming to visit the Bay Area is what to pack.

You see a lot of tourists around San Francisco wearing sweatshirts they just bought on Fisherman’s Wharf. Many of them did not pack a sweatshirt because it was summer and they were heading to California. Clearly they didn’t check Mark Twain’s weather report for San Francisco

“The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”

Here’s some guidelines for you packlist

Rule of thumb: Always have a warm jacket with you. You never know when you’re going to need it. I suggest either Uniqlo or Patagonia, they are super light, yet very warm and comfortable. For winter season you’ll definitely need to coat, though.

A Daypack. You’ll need one for carrying those layers you shed as you explore! Make sure it’s a comfortable one, with padded shoulder straps and enough room to safely carry your computer, in case you want to work from one of San Francisco’s fantastic coffee shops.

T-shirts are good for summer periods, but you’ll most probably need something with a long sleeve.

Pants are better than shorts. Reserve shorts for the pool parties and short city walks, but if you’re going out at least for couple of hours Pants are the definite choice for San Francisco’s weather.

Shoes: certainly not the flip-flops.

San Francisco is built on hills but for someone in decent shape I still think that the best way to experience San Francisco is to get out and walk.

Buuut.. its fun to drive down the “crookedest street in the world” Lombard street .

There is a big difference between South and North California. You’ll get it when you come. I always go for the combination of style and comfort that’s why Nike Air is my go to for the dry season. Even if it’s cold. A warm pair of socks works perfectly. But If it’s raining I simply hide or call for Uber.

Also you definitely need something water-resistant if you’re going to San Francisco. By the way comment down below if you have your favorite pair of rain shoes in mind.

Which brings us to the topic of random long rainy seasons. You always want to have an umbrella and a raincoat if you’re coming to San Francisco.

Those are the first things you need to pack. Top of the checklist. And make sure your laptop is in the water resistant case.

P.S. Don’t forget your Sunglasses. Who knows if the sun will be bright. Okay, just kidding. It’s not actually that bad. But still, you gotta be prepared.
