Hi Alicia,

As a fellow night owl and someone who has struggled with depression, I appreciated this post and I’m glad you found a solution that works for you.

I would love to be the kind of person who gets up at 6:30 am. I’m lucky to even get up at 10 am on weekends nowadays. So thanks to your post, I’ll be trying CBT-I. Wish me luck!

I’d love to hear more about your experiences with the following 2 things that have me a bit worried:

what happened to your “creative burst of energy” at night after you changed how you sleep? I think some of my best ideas have come after lying in bed at 2 am and I don’t want to lose that creative force in my life.

And

What happened to your quality of life on days that you woke up early while sleeping badly the night before? I know in my experience if I force myself to get up I’m going to have a really, really bad day and I’m reasonably certain that these days are triggers for some of my depression.

Thanks!

-D
