Oh, Fran. I’ve gone through so much of what you mentioned (the bad skin, the weight gain, not knowing what is going on with your hair) that the piece feels almost like an old, almost forgotten journal entry. This is the phrase that stuck out the most — this is something that goes through my head often. It’s great to have friends (guys, specifically) who don’t reduce you to being “just” a woman, but more importantly, you didn’t limit yourself to that, either. Thank you for this! Great piece!
