Apple to open new software office in Seattle

Apple moved its software offices to the northwest for the first time.

Ridden with Microsoft, Apple is attracted by Seattle’s software talent, mostly with the engineer’s expertise in building an online infrastructure.

The main vein of the Seattle office will be a group of F5 engineers, working for Union Bay Networks, to work on network infrastructure. Apple thinks that it will be just what it needs to level the playing field with the cloud services.

Being this is the first office to open in Seattle to date, it is assumed that number will grow. There has been no official word on that, however we do know there was a previous branch in Kirkland, WA but was closed down 20 years ago.

“Apple joins a parade of California tech companies that have set up engineering offices in Seattle in recent years to take advantage of the region’s talent pool.”

Apple recently acquired Union Bay Networks, and plan to compete with neighboring companies.

Hinting at future work on iCloud, Benn Bollay, a former F5 Networks engineer who in September changed his LinkedIn status from Union Bay Networks CTO to “Manager at Apple,” posted a public notice to his profile announcing he is hiring for the Seattle office.

Microsoft and Amazon’s competitors have been encroaching on their territory. Google recently doubled the size of its campus in 2013 to work on cloud computing.
