It is known that they have stood in Great Britain for over 4,000 years, but their purpose remains a subject of scientific debate.

New Discovery Regarding Stonehenge

One of the more popular theories suggests that Stonehenge was a kind of solar calendar. Other archaeological studies have indicated that before the stones were set in place, there may have been a necropolis at the site. Human remains found during excavations are said to support this.
