We have little chance of meeting biological representatives of alien civilizations. The distances in space and the fragility of biological life make close encounters of the third degree with beings similar to us unlikely. Most likely, however — if we do meet aliens — they will be synthetic forms equipped with artificial intelligence, not “little green men.”

What might aliens look like? According to U.S. film producers, they should have elongated bodies, big heads and fewer than five fingers. Let’s considered evolutionary possibilities on various celestial bodies. Natural conditions on a planet or moon could affect the development of life.

An example? If life evolved on Saturn’s moon Titan, the “Titans” would probably be able to fly. All because of the dense atmosphere of that moon. If life appeared on Europa, a moon of Jupiter, it would have to resemble Earth’s aquatic creatures to some degree. All because Europa is covered with ice, but there is an ocean beneath this icy crust.

Do aliens exist?

It was all about rather primitive life forms, not civilizations. That there is no other civilization in the Solar System besides our own, we are sure. Therefore, if we were to look for it somewhere, it would be in other, distant…
