Wake Up! The Sheeple Are Moving And The Wolf Needs New Clothes.
And Now For Something Completely Different… and yes, probably just as absurd as the reference suggests. Are you tired of waking up yet? Has the bile and excrement being spewed from the orifices of both candidates for flock wolf or flock shepherd… are you weary of trying to decide which side is which, which side is worse? Isn’t it exhausting? All of the blame and rage. All of the overprivileged whining and tantrums? Me, I can’t take it anymore… at least not in silence.
I can’t ignore another…
Have you been watching the political circus in the United States wondering why so many people are putting up with this…medium.com
… or another rant about the dire state of this Nation. Leave it to our culture of entitlement to honestly believe they are unique, special. Wake up! We are all unique, just like everybody else. Instead of spewing your undereducated and uninformed opinions about how dire our circumstances are, what a terrible place America is, how we all need to hold hands and send out waves of love and positive energy to effect a political revolution… crack a book.
I hardly even know where to begin anymore. Let’s start with Maslow. The only thing that even allows you to psychologically form an opinion, let alone the active desire for change, is the existence of those very things you claim this nation lacks. Moreover, they are complaints born without any context. This same country so many within want to tear apart is viewed favorably on an International scale. The very reason that so many seek shelter within our borders is in search of all the things you think we are devoid of.
We’ll move on. Political Revolution isn’t just some modern buzzword used to organize people behind one ideology or another. It is a brand of Marxism codified by Trotsky that has specific parameters. It is, to put it succinctly, “an upheaval in which the government is replaced, or the form of government altered, but in which property relations are predominantly left intact.” What most are really talking about when they start calling out for Political Revolution is in fact Social Revolution. Social Revolution is almost the opposite of Political Revolution. Property relations are replaced or altered while government remains unchanged. Pick up The Revolution Betrayed. Education walks hand in hand with enlightenment.
It could be said none of this matters. Enter Controlled Dissent, sometimes called Controlled Opposition by those wanting to modernize an old theory… a theory so old there are no nifty web links. Richard Weaver was a scholar, a teacher, and a bigot. Make no mistake, reading his works will probably make you slightly ill. He codified the theory of Controlled Dissent as a beneficial and necessary part of society, or more specifically, social control. Knowing the short attention span suffered by those unwilling to slog through about 1000 pages of morally reprehensible text, let me abridge it for you. Controlled Dissent is the allowance and even promotion of an opposing counterpoint to any existing power base in order to make the disenfranchised feel like they have a voice, like that voice matters. This can be seen in the numerous astro-turf start ups that pose as micro political movements as well as in the very existence of the 24 hour news cycle. It is socially proven that a populace that feels like it can change things seldom will.
Right now, you probably think you have me figured out, have my position figured out. If so, you haven’t really been reading. While some are returning to 60’s era peace, love, nurture tomorrow… and others are railing about the destruction of civilization as we know it, I actually have a solution. The sad part? It is an easy solution. It is a free solution. Ever person in America, regardless of race, creed, color, economic status… has more routes of access than they will ever bother to find out. EDUCATE YOURSELF!
Don’t quote soundbites — be they from the 24 hour news circus or Noam Chomsky unless you actually understand what you are saying. Know your isms before you start throwing around words like Socialism, Anarchy, Libertarianism, even words you think you know like Revolution. When the machines of dissent try to grind you up, stand tall. Be your own voice. When the people around you are chanting to Make America Great Again, don’t fuel their fires by agreeing with their basic premiss. Remind them that America is great right now. Admitting that is not saying there is no need for progress, no need for change. It is, however, realizing that many of you are speaking from a position of privilege. That doesn’t mean shut up, it means opening your eyes, trying to see from the perspective of the people you presume to speak for. Understand that to many, their daily struggles play out on a scale invisible to the world at large. Stop shouting that change needs to happen, speak with your actions and change someone’s life.
Work for it. You have all the tools. The information is all right there. Stop waiting for someone to hand you a future and crying when your hands stay empty. Go grab your future. Stop hiding behind Facebook and internet memes, processed bites of information that are meaningless at best, destructive far more often. Stop watching Punch & Judy. They are just a distraction, just dissent theatre designed to line people up in neat oppositional lines while the real power picks pockets dry. Build real solutions to real problems. You are one of the reasons America is great right now, so stop letting us down.
