Learn something from everybody you meet

Every person I've ever met has probably taught me something. They probably weren't doing it consciously, I probably didn't recognize that I was learning something, I probably don’t even remember what I learned from most of the people I've met. But every human interaction is a learning opportunity.

Some people we meet we consciously take away positives from — he knows how to make people laugh, she’s great at inspiring others, he taught me how to make a better presentation, she showed me a new way to think about the world.

Some people we meet we consciously take away negatives from — he has a very narrow perspective, she just talks about herself, he doesn't notice that he is boring everybody, she won’t make eye contact.

Sometimes, quite often actually, we learn both positives and negatives from the same people, but let’s hope that there are more positives than negatives

Everybody has interesting stories to tell, everybody has a unique perspective on things, everybody has something new that you can learn from them. Seek out people who can teach you positives, people who inspire you, stimulate you, challenge you, make you think from a different perspective.

See others as teachers and make every day a learning experience, every day is a chance to be taught something and to grow.

And of course flip that around, and that means that you’re a teacher to everyone else.

What kind of a teacher do you want to be?
