First week at Brand: 4 things I’ve learned

I’ve really enjoyed my first week at Brand Industry Services (everybody here calls it Brand, incidentally). I can’t believe how much I already feel part of the team and I’m so grateful for the way everyone’s made me feel so welcome.

In fact, that’s the first thing I’ve learned: That being a part of a team that values you is key to getting the best out of yourself. I’m a motivated kind of guy anyway, but knowing that the team is supporting me as I work to my strengths is so encouraging.

Secondly, on a more practical level, I’ve learned a huge amount about labels (thanks to you, Michael). Brand has specialised in short run label production for over 15 years and I simply had no idea there were so many variants (you may have seen the video I shot just a few days ago in this regard).

Labels awaiting despatch

Thirdly, I’ve learned that size is really no object to Brand when it comes to label production. Here’s a picture I took of a 14 metre x 20 centimetre ‘label’ (when is a label not a label…?). As one who’s worked in signage for over 20 years, I can appreciate how difficult it is to produce something like this (it’s all in the set up, apparently). Brand certainly understands label production!

This label was so long I couldn’t fit it in the reception area, let alone on my camera screen!

Fourthly (and finally for this week), I’ve learned that just a four minute walk from the office takes me to the Swan River waterfront. Beautiful, huh?

In fact, if you have a few spare minutes, why not walk there with me now?

(Full marks if you can name the accompanying piece of music!)

Have a great weekend — wherever you are on this beautiful planet.
