At a time when new trends have already started to emerge!

More sophisticated than ever before, the way we use digital media technology is changing. We’re getting smarter about how we use social media to our advantage, and the news about how the Tech Giants capitalise on our creativity, time and personal data has triggered a cultural backlash that is demanding a new moral code. Though it may not be fully understood yet, the change has already happened and a new generation of thinking has begun.

Trending somewhere between the technology worlds of the Internet of Things, Augmented Reality and Social Media, #hexology is a startup that is empowering people to share their digital media in the #realphysicalworld, and their vision of empowerment is at the very heart of their design.

#hexology enables people from all walks of life to create, share and discover content in the world around us, and connect with people to create a vibrant new form of social interaction that exists in real-time and space.

Central to the #hexology experience is a free app and a small wearable device called #hex. Seamlessly integrated to create a smooth user experience, #hex takes your content and shares it with people nearby, connecting you to an audience you can literally reach out and physically touch. Founder Darrel J Butlin says:

“Your digital self is an amazing and an important part of who you really are, yet its presence is not with you for others to feel and see, it’s stuck online, separated from the real physical you, until now. Imagine, your digital self and real physical self together as one, not just on line but where your life is really happening!”

Streamlining the Art of creating, reading, writing and sharing your digital media in a real location, #hexology is pioneering ways to democratise and unlock the potential to empower people with this new form of social interaction.

“We are seeing exciting new ways to realise, disrupt, re-invent and engage people in new kinds of experiences, which takes the focus away from our screens and puts it back into the #realphysicalworld.”

More and more negative reports about the poor ethics, bad moral decisions and the exploitative design practises Social Media Platforms knowingly use are coming to the surface. Their short-sighted focus on personal gain is causing harm, leading people into an emotional dependency on social media, it’s an addiction that is causing some young people to experience depression and feelings of isolation. Parents are talking about how much screen time children should have and how to manage it, yet it is no secret amongst the people in the tech industry that interaction designers are constantly thinking of ways to get people hooked.

Instead, #hexology exists to enrich the experience of being in the real world, it’s a powerful platform with a purpose to transform the way we interact and participate in the #realphysicalworld around us. Evolved out of a 4 year program of user experience design, Founder Darrel J Butlin says:

“The feedback is compelling! From the very beginning, #hexology has always received a very high level of interest, even in the early stages when we were still forming direction and honing-in our message, the vision always sparked people’s imagination. We’ve grown organically, explored ideas and through the application of a user-centred design process, gained deep insights into a very unique perspective on how location-based social media can build better communities, boost activities and events, create and engage audiences in narrative experiences that unfold in real-time and space.”

Geared up to empower people from all walks of life, #hexology is focused on the new generation of tech-savvy individuals who understand and embrace the advantages of living a truly lightweight and mobile lifestyle. #hexology closes the gap between our online digital world and #realphysicalworld, and it comes at a time when new trends have already started to emerge.

Up until recently, people would advertise a job vacancy in a newspaper or with an employment agent, now they post it through social media and wait for a direct reply. Using #hexology, actors are posting there bio pics and resume’s at the entrances and backstage doors of their local theatres, for Producers and Directors to pickup and discover whenever they walk by. This is one of the many unexpected examples of how #hexology works!

“Compose a message, add an image, video via youtube, audio via soundcloud, it’s as simple as posting a tweet, but instead of online, your message is posted into a real location.”

Built on an understanding that all of the location based tagging technologies have different characteristics and strengths, the ultimate service would synthesise the ability to read, write, discover and share content in one hybrid platform, that weaves Beacon technology and Geo-caching with NFC Tagging and QR/Barcode scanning, into one user experience design. This was one of the first key insights that underpinned everything #hexology has subsequently developed, leading to the creation of #hex which sits at the pinnacle of this new kind of social technology platform

Aimed at individuals, small businesses and organisations, #hexology enables people to promote their activities and events, build communities, share digital narratives and experiences in real-time and space. It’s an evolutionary step-change that we believe is akin to the one a person makes when they move from childhood into adolescence. Now that we understand the potential of #SocialMedia, and its pitfalls, lets build something better.. and new!

Without doubt, the rewards are worth it. The ability to discover and connect with the people around you enables #hexology users to gain a fast-track into a place and its culture!

Yet for the #hexology team their journey has only just begun, they have had to work hard to maintain its stance that offers a new form of interaction that can be used in all walks of life. With scalable applications in Events Management, Gaming, Publishing, Digital Signage, Inventory Tracking and Home automation, the temptation to jump on board the band-wagon and exploit one of these vertical markets would come at the expense of empowering the very person we aspire to help.

#hexology exists to empower anyone with a passion to reach out, connect and engage people who are in the world around them, and invite them into a world of discovery. We believe it’s a cultural shift that will bring our communities together and put the magic of digital technology back into reality.

Join us and lets shape the future together!
