Empower Card is Now ETA: Give
We’re not trying to sell anything, we just want to change the world.
Empowerment through Action (ETA) is a name we live by. Our mission is embodied in the name we chose: to empower people to positively change the world using innovative, unique ideas.
However, we made a slight change to our mission: instead of empowering people to change the world using products and services, we changed it to empowering people to change the world using ideas.
So, why the subtle change? We’re not here to sell you anything.
Rob and I didn’t start ETA as our get rich quick scheme or retirement plan. We didn’t do it for fame, glory, or recognition. We started it because we want to see positive change in the world. ETA: Give is an idea that can seriously amplify how much we give to what we love, track exactly what we’re giving to, and ultimately positively change the world. Faster.
Here’s the reason why we think there’s an opportunity here: how fast could the world improve if money and resources weren’t an obstacle? We want to find out.
There’s so much that we’ve accomplished that is quite astounding when you think about it. We’ve been to the moon, we’ve cured diseases, we’ve built skyscrapers, we fly across the world thousands of feet in the air, we drive cars over distances that would take days by foot, we communicate through tiny devices that transmit signals across the world almost instantaneously, we have access to most, if not all, of the information in the world at the click of a button on a 12" screen, powered by a small container that stores energy and is rechargeable. I could go on for days!
However, there is so much that we haven’t done that I ask myself why haven’t we? Why do people still starve in the world? Why can’t everyone have access to information and education if it’s literally at the click of a button? Why aren’t we more environmentally friendly? Why isn’t there a cure for this yet? Why do some kids not have a bed to sleep on?
I strongly believe that everyone has a “why haven’t we?” The overarching theme in all of these cases, the one thing you can tie to everything, is resources.
People are the ones that change the world. Resources amplify their efforts.
Now we’re at why we changed the name from Empower Card to ETA: Give. Empower Card sounds like a product, but we consider what we’re trying to do a movement. We want to organize people and help them connect with exactly what they deeply care about, and amplify the efforts that are currently being done. There’s no catch. There’s no hidden agenda. There’s just the action we have available: Give.
Empowerment through Action introduces its first endeavor: ETA: Give, a social impact program that allows you to give 5% of your purchases to a cause — at no additional cost to you. Join the movement and help leave a lasting positive impact on the world by getting rid of the biggest obstacle to positive change: lack of resources. You shop like normal, businesses give, nonprofits receive.
So…how do we make money though? Probably a question still on your minds. We intend on making money by asking for donations and grants. We’re confident that if we amplify the great works for causes you deeply care about, then work will praise the man and we’d have positioned ourselves as a nonprofit you’d want to support. We just need to pay the bills but don’t want to detract from what you’re giving to. That’s why we refuse to take any of the 5%, rather we want to ask if you can make a small donation to keep us afloat.
Sounds crazy right? Well, we told you we were naive from the beginning…
