The following interview was published by Downtown Magazine NYC in 2016. Adams was then touring in support of 2015’s Get Up album, and has since released 2019’s Shine A Light, 2022’s So Happy It Hurts and the 2013 single “What If There Were No Sides At All.” His latest release is he Live at The Royal Albert Hall box set, as due out this week via BMG. Below is slightly-updated copy, as followed by our email-based Q&A.
When it comes to hit songs and albums sold, Bryan Adams is in rare company. Songs like “Summer Of ‘69,” “Heaven,” “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?” and “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” remain as popular as ever, helping Adams to sell over 65 million albums worldwide. Amazingly, that “65 million albums” figure does not include songs that Bryan had written or co-written for other artists, a list which includes KISS, Motley Crue, Neil Diamond, Bonnie Raitt, Rod Stewart, and Celine Dion; many of these songs were written with Bryan’s long-time collaborator Jim Vallance.
