Although encryption is easy to blame, the fact is the world stops turning if it is Government people must trust to use back doors only when it sees fit. Also, if Government has a way to circumvent encryption, so can hackers. When and if if back doors are allowed, with a few clicks of the mouse one can download foreign made software which does not have back doors, so ultimately it undermines American software. Similarly, when it was found out some American firewalls will allow Government spyware through, every friend serious about security is now using foreign anti-virus/firewall software who doesn’t make such deals. Personally I think going after people who seek to harm other people should be the focus — not a witch hunt on technology.
