Where to start where to start….

What is this hate really? Because I don’t actually think it’s a hate of a certain race. These tensions have evolved between police and the black population. I’m just not buying the racism.

It’s a hate of police officers. I say this because it is true. I honestly believe people think they are out to get a certain race, “murderers”, they’re being called. Now I’m not saying their isn’t racist police officers or cops that have disobeyed the oath they’ve taken, but cops are good people. I know this. Cops are scared. They don’t know how to respond anymore. Do I try and deescalate without a weapon and face death? Do I use a non lethal? Will I be criticized for this action? What is even wrong and right?

I’m not going to get all statistical here because this is an opinionated writing, but I do believe that more white people are killed by cops than black people. Yes I know population factors go into that blah blah blah. Having said this, it seems that the shootings involving black individuals are always video recorded. When’s the last time we’ve seen a white on white police shooting outrage social media?

This racism we speak of, is it really racism? No, the media has torn us apart, social media, Facebook and Twitter. The arguments I’ve seen, the people who were oh so close losing friendships. I feel like people have been forced to choose a side and that is pro police or pro black lives. Yes I do see the “All Lives Matter”, in which they do, but I don’t think most people are buying it.

We are a free country, there is no time for segregation. I have friends of all different races, I was raised by a wonderful mother who is very accepting. Now, MLK said something like (and not word for word here), don’t judge by the color of a persons skin, but by the content of their character. Why isn’t that quote holding true? Actually you know what, I think it is for the most part. I don’t think most people care about race anymore and they shouldn’t. However the division between police and black people have brought that back.

I am not the best writer, but I do have thoughts on certain issues. This is a hot one. I wanted to share a small piece of my views. In summary of the point I want to get across is this; The media has portrayed this division between cops and the black population, creating a choosing of sides where I feel white people are forced to side with police and black people are forced to side with Black Lives Matter. This does not go for everyone though, I’m aware people are supportive of either or despite race as well.

I hope this article is not taken the wrong way by anyone. I am the furthest thing from racist. I do support police. I do support black lives. I do support freedom.
