@Todd Flora, @Matt Paulding has mostly made the point I would make. I don’t know the answers and I work in the Health insurance industry with a lot of very smart people who don’t know the answers either. What I want there to be is an actual reasoned debate and discussion about the options and tradeoffs (there are ALWAYS tradeoffs) in the different options. Maybe single-payer is the answer, maybe it’s separate high-risk pools on a federal level, maybe it’s a public relations campaign to help corral end-of-life costs (freakonomics had a good podcast on that).

But whatever it is, we won’t find it by pretending we already know all the answers ala this podcast.
