You should climb a mountain; just so you know you can.

You should sit under the stars for four hours with someone; so you can know that the universe is wonderful.

You should fall in lust with someone; to know the utter magic of the human body and just how not-enough lust is for your happiness.

You should fall in love with someone; to know what it is like to be half of a whole.

You should fall out of love with someone; to know what it is like to be half of a half.

You should ride a motorcycle; chances are: you won’t die.

You should have friends; to care about others.

You should lose friends, to care about others.

You should have at least one amazing friend; so you can learn how to be them.

You should be alone for a long time; to know you.

You should stop being alone; it can and will kill you.

You should give people the benefit of the doubt; Lord knows you need it.

You should do things that people can never repay; so they don’t have to.

You should cry a long, anguished, heartbroken, and ugly cry; to know the pain was worth it.

You should try and fail yourself repeatedly; so you can one day win.

You should try to not let her see you cry; so she can know it is her choice without baggage.

You should tell her one day about the mourning; so she can know how important she is.

You should read; so you can be more than the words that originate in five pounds of grey matter.

You should forgive the unforgivable; because anger is less than love.

You should see things from others’ views; the world is full of good intent.

You should love unconditionally; any other way is to betray the word.

You should see the world; it’s beautiful.

You should adventure on your own; you learn how to become self-dependent.

You should adventure with someone else; it’s better.

You should listen; the world and others have a lot to say that really truly matters.

You should also speak; it truly matters.

You should look at them like they might disappear and say ‘I love you’ like it’s your last; one day you’ll be right.

You should realize you are often wrong; because you always will be if you never accept it.

You should hurt. You should hurt beyond your wildest nightmares. You should hit rock bottom. Because the bottom is where you place your feet to stand and the pain is what builds character. I have never met a great human being who didn’t fight hell to become who they are.

You should ask what you of tomorrow would want you of today to do when making a choice; it removes regret and adds happiness in its place.

Finally, you should know that you will always be loved and that you are enough just the way you are.

“When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
