Prison Is Where Families Go
Everyday Incarceration

I’m experiencing for the first time in my life what it’s like to have someone you love get sentenced to prison. At this point we still aren’t sure of the amount of time he will have to do. His charges are forgery and receiving stolen property. He was on probation and violated it by not reporting to his officer. He’s a tattoo artist and he accepted some stolen stuff in exchange for tattoo work. Then he got pulled over and because he had a warrant, he signed his brother in law’s name to the ticket. Forgery. It’s ridiculous. He’s been going rounds with this for like 3 or 4 years. I’ve been with him a year. They executed the 5 year sentence a week ago. I don’t know what to think or how to deal with it. It feels surreal. He’s a good guy. He just doesn’t think of the consequences of what he does. I guess he will now. Great article.
