With summer upon us, many New York City residents will be heading towards their perspective parks to escape the city life.

Residents of the Bronx borough will be disappointed to find out that most parks are in poor conditions.

According to the Center for an Urban Future report, the Bronx along with Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island have not received major upgrades in over 20 years. Since 1998 all 291 Bronx parks have not received upgrades in regards to park infrastructures. Many playground equipment are poorly maintained and in need of total make over

While conditions of the parks have been deteriorating, the department of Parks and Recreation have continued to provide adequate inspections to make sure parks are maintained clean.

Parks inspection programs have noticed that while Overall conditions of city parks are falling short of expectation, cleanliness of the parks have been maintained.

With a new budget of $43 million approved earlier this month, many are wondering how will funds be distributed through out the boroughs. The Bronx and Staten Island specifically had the least amount of money spent on maintenance in 2018. It will be important to increase spending in order to improve the quality of life.
