THE WATCHERS OF BALINESE CULTURE

TAKEN AT METROPOLITAN MUSEUM

This is an exhibit that is taken from the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, located along Roxas Boulevard, beside Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

This picture looks like Filipinos living in mountains. Maybe this painting was made to show us indigenous peoples of the Philippines. The Philippines consist of a large number of indigenous ethnic groups living in the country. They are the descendants of the original inhabitants of the Philippines. They were not absorbed by centuries of Spanish and United States colonization of the Philippines archipelago, and in the process have retained their customs and traditions. These are Filipinos living how Filipinos are supposed to live. Living together in simple and harmony and also close to nature is where Filipinos belong to. The painting shows Filipino values of being more friendly and hospitable by visitors. It looks like they are waving or saying hi from the first person who made this art.
