Many of you have already published some articles on your personal or company blog. Some of your articles brought thousands of visitors, but some might be not so popular. I’ve been in writing for more than 3 years, and I’ve noticed that behind all the successful articles there are always the same rules. So, today we are going to find how you can create a quality and attractive blog post just by understanding and following them.

One article — one question

Your article should answer just one very specific question, intead of covering many aspects of the topic. Basically, this question is your headline.

Give your reader just one promise and keep it.

For example, if your topic is about buying a new car, your specific questions might be: Which features buyer should consider? Brand new car vs used one; Comparing the most popular models, and so on. So you should choose just one and cover only this question. The bad scenario is to name your article too general, like “Buying a new car” , and to tell reader everything you know about the topic.

Reader first

Before writing anything you should develop a very clear image of your readers: who they are, what they are interested in, what they do, how they live, what they know, and what they want to learn from this article.

Simply said, write not everything you want to share, but what your readers want to discover. This will help you to be agin more specific and provide information that has a real value.

For example, in the case of article about buying a new car, it’s better to differentiate readers who are car owners (they know a lot about cars and already have got some experience), and readers who have never owned a car (you would need to explain them some basic terms). You can also divide groups by readers’ needs. For example, some of them look for a comfortable family car, others — for a fancy status car.

So, put yourself in your readers’ shoose and try to think as they would do.

Write a plan

…before writing an article. I recommend to create a very detailed plan with keywords and to describe each part of your article (and transition between them). This is a proven way to keep your article well-srtuctured and logical.

This is it!

I would say, it’s a very basic introduction to writing cool articles, but try to start at least with these ones. You will see how the quality of your articles rises and we should always remember that popular content is a top-quality content.

What do you think is the most important in writing a good article? Leave your anwer in the comments.
