Spam, mass marketing emails: the most frustrating user experience
If you’ve ever purchased a consumer good or signed up for a newsletter, you’ve probably received a multitude of emails— some marketing related, while others may be insights related to your account. 📧
It’s certainly not the best customer experience when there are a plethora of messages that aren’t necessarily personalized or relevant to the consumer, as it feels like spam. 👎🏻
‼️BUT WAIT‼️
Did you know there is a law that “sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have you stop emailing them, and spells out tough penalties for violations?” 🤔
It’s called the CAN-SPAM Act! 👩🏻⚖️
There’s a full list of requirements for commercial messages, but the most interesting to me is: “Tell recipients how to opt out of receiving future email from you.” ✌🏻
I looked over a few emails I recently received to assess compliance. Can you identify any email that may not be following this guideline (see screenshots)? 🤓

What do you typically do when you receive too many emails:
1️⃣ Unsubscribe?
2️⃣ Mark the sender as spam? (Guilty 🙃)
3️⃣ Create a new email?
