You (and me) should be taking more vacations

I’ve booked my first vacation, since starting Chop Dawg in 2009. I’ll be visiting a few cities in Europe early next year.

This is long overdue.

I’m a big believer that everyone needs a vacation.

No, the reason isn’t what you think.

It isn’t to prevent burnout.

Though for some, I understand how they are designed, that is a serious thing. That isn’t the reason why I am taking a vacation, though.

No, it isn’t because you only live life once. Again, you can design your entrepreneurial life around whatever you want. That isn’t a great excuse.

No, I believe everyone needs a vacation, especially in the entrepreneurial world, to regain perspective from time to time.

You need some time away to better understand yourself.

You need some time away to better understand your daily habits, your daily routines, what you’re doing right, what you’re doing right.

You need some time away to understand how your ship can run in your absence, where your daily stresses are coming from, where you can improve.

You need some time away to motivate yourself, put things back into perspective and look at everything from an outside lens.

You need some time away to remind yourself, why you are doing the things you do.

Family?

Friends?

Legacy?

To travel?

To have the life of your dreams?

This is why vacations are a big deal to me and one I think more entrepreneurs need to embrace.

You need to utilize this time as a way to recharge your batteries if you’re the type of individual to burnout, but more importantly to me, you need to utilize such time for self-reflection and to remind yourself, why you are doing what you are doing.

Though this is my first vacation in literally over seven years, I plan to be a bit more conscious of this and begin taking one at least once a year.

To me, it will only increase my productivity, my happiness, my state of being and help me identify where I can improve both personally and professionally.

Vacations that help you earn more, do more and create more.
