Trying to learn a developer how to think as a designer is a waste of time, it’s like trying to learn a designer to think as a developer.

I am an architect and there are a lot of common things between designing & building a building and designing and building a website. The web field could learn a lot from the architects. So there is the same issue with architects, when you design something it’s more likely that the engineer, the constructor or the client will just mess with your work. You don’t try to lear then engineer how to think like an architect, you just observe and approve his work. You’re involved in the process in the same way the designer should be involved in the front-end development.
