The Essential Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie, a British crime novelist, short-story writer, and playwright, remains the best-selling novelist of all time, outsold only by Shakespeare and the Bible. Throughout her life, she wrote 66 crime novels, six other novels, 24 plays, and more than 150 short stories. Her books have sold more than a billion copies in the English language and another billion in over 70 other languages. No wonder she remains the most-translated individual author, having been translated into at least 103 languages according to Index Translationum.

She is a master of mystery writing for several reasons. One is her ability to create complex and intriguing plots that keep readers guessing until the end. She develops her characters in a way that makes them feel like real people with their own motivations and secrets. Additionally, her writing style is clear and engaging, making it easy for readers to become fully immersed in the story. Making her popularly known as “the queen of mystery and crime.”.
