This is true, but I hope parents do not overlook opportunities to nurture true talent and passion. When there is passion, the hard work seems easy, and being congratulated for all your hard work can also make you feel like a fraud. Although it is perhaps a tiny percentage of situations, I would not want to miss finding a real spark of genius in a child by celebrating only hard work efforts and preaching that true talent does not exist. Everyone has something amazing about them…work ethic is essential to life, but it is not enough.
