Team Daugherty is growing every day. With every closed sale or new account comes the need for additional members of our team to help our clients with their complex business problems. This week we have the opportunity to get to know a new .NET Developer in St. Louis, James Richardson.

Growing up in a military family, James is no stranger to moving around. In fact, after accepting the role with Team Daugherty, he relocated to St. Louis from Columbia, Missouri. But, we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. Let’s go back to where James’ path to a career in technology began. During his senior year of high school, James was one of 103 students chosen — out of 75,000 applicants — to receive the Horatio Alger National Scholarship. After receiving this honor, James made the decision to attend Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. He received degrees in computer information systems and business administration. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, James moved to Columbia, Mo. to begin a graduate program at Mizzou in health informatics, as well as a certificate in organizational change. “Everything that you do in technology will cause organizational change. I chose to pursue this program at the University of Missouri because I wanted the exposure to the human element that creates the change so that I could better learn how to manage it.”

After graduation, James stayed at the University of Missouri for the next six years. Most recently, he was in a role supporting the Network for Educator Effectiveness. This organization is active in 200 Missouri school districts, managing classroom observation dates, surveys from students and other research driven metrics that are used in a summative report to help improve the overall effectiveness of the district’s teachers.

New to St. Louis, James hasn’t had much time to explore. When he has some free time he enjoys spending it with his two children. Whether that is at the St. Louis Zoo or just hanging at home, they always have a good time! His 2-year-old daughter’s favorite game lately is “jungle dad.” James is convinced she is a gymnast in training. His son enjoys playing video games or board games with his father.

James would love to meet his new teammates! He enjoys learning new things and would welcome the opportunity to chat with his fellow consultants about what to expect in the coming months. Be sure to take a few minutes this week to welcome James to Team Daugherty!
