Welcome to #TeamDaugherty — Accelerator Edition

Over the next six weeks the Daugherty St. Louis Accelerator program will be helping six developers evolve their skills to earn the title of Software Engineer 1. This program has been broken down into three two-week sections: software engineering fundamentals, web development and server side development.

Every week we will meet a new developer from the program and a future member of the Daugherty Dev Center.

It is week four of the Daugherty — St. Louis Accelerator Program! This week we have the opportunity to get to know a bit about Tyler Olsen.

Tyler graduated from Truman State University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business. During his time in Kirksville, he also completed a minor in Spanish. In pursuit of his minor he had the opportunity to spend ten weeks living with a family in Costa Rica as a part of the Truman State University Spanish Immersion Program.

After graduation Tyler began his career working for a Fortune 100 company as a Senior Team Leader. Over the next three years Tyler continued at this organization moving into the role of Executive Team Leader for Logistics. However, when presented with an opportunity to work as the seventh employee at a local startup, Tyler decided to make a change. He spent two and a half years with this organization and it allowed him to gain valuable business development experience. His duties included client management, sales, marketing and business operations.

In 2015, while still working in this business development role, Tyler began the Washington University Olin Business School MBA program. Through this experience he was able to get his first experience working in a consulting role when he became involved in the Taylor Community Consulting Program, a team-based project focusing on applying various business skills in a consulting engagement with a St. Louis nonprofit agency.

Tyler is very busy as he begins his final year of the Washington University MBA program and as he starts his software development journey in the Accelerator Program, but that doesn’t mean he forgets to make time for some fun! He loves getting outside and playing golf or taking his dog for a walk. In fact, he often takes his dog to his favorite place in St. Louis, Forest Park.

Interested in learning more about Tyler? You can find him on the fourth floor at the St. Louis office. He is happy to be at Daugherty and would love to chat with other members of Team Daugherty about life as a Software Engineer.
