Welcome to #TeamDaugherty

This week we are happy to introduce you to Adam Lee, a Software Engineer working in our Twin Cities office. He may be a fresh face in the Daugherty Dev Center, but he is no stranger to the world of development. Let’s take a look at what brought Adam to Team Daugherty.
Originally from the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Adam stayed in his home state to attend the University of Minnesota. Although he began his time as a Gopher studying chemical engineering, it wasn’t long before his interests began to shift. He changed his major from that original focus to astrophysics before deciding that computer science was more in line with what he wanted to spend his career doing.
Having grown up in the small town of Montevideo, Minn., Adam decided that after earning his degree he wanted to see more of the country. He accepted a position as a government consultant for taxation and revenue departments. He moved to Baton Rouge, La. with his fiancée — now his wife — for 18 months before moving onto Santa Fe, N.M. for another eighteen months. He had seen the South and the West and it was time for him to head back North. Upon returning to his home state, he continued in the same role for another five years before he learned about the opportunities available for someone of his skill set at Daugherty Business Solutions. He had recently realized that he was incredibly interested in learning new technologies and paradigms, and he decided that the best method to continue learning was to take the next step in his career and move to a company, like Daugherty, that offers an abundance of opportunities for professional growth.
When he isn’t solving complex business problems, Adam really enjoys a variety of activities. “If my spare time were divided into a pie chart there would be four large slices labelled exercise, video games, travel and Netflix. After zooming and enhancing several times you would find a fifth slice composed of a wide variety of different activities, including gardening, cooking, tennis, basketball, board games, reading about outer space, and Redditting. I really enjoy trying new hobbies and activities so that slice of the pie chart is always growing.”
Living near the Summit Avenue area in Saint Paul, Adam has access to a lot of those activities that he enjoys. This part of the Twin Cities offers great options for walking, running or riding bike. There are also a number of fantastic restaurants that he and his wife, Katie, love to explore.
Being a member of the Daugherty Dev Center, Adam is likely to meet a number of people with interests that align with his. In fact, we can pretty much guarantee that he will find a few more video game fans in the group. The awesome game room in the Minneapolis office always has a few competitors challenging each other to a game or two during their down time throughout the day. But, I don’t know if I would be too quick to challenge Adam. He holds several world records for speedrunning. What’s that? If you have to ask I definitely wouldn’t take him on in the game room — speedrunning means that Adam is able to beat video games faster than anyone else has been able to. Talk about some tough competition!
Adam is a great addition to the team and we are excited to have him on board. “I am really excited to meet and work with all of these folks! It seems like there are some really interesting problems out there that need solving and I can’t wait to dive in,” Adam said of his new adventure. Well Adam, we can’t wait to see some of the awesome work you are going to do with the Dev Center!
