Welcome to #TeamDaugherty — University Edition

The Daugherty University program is BACK! We are excited to welcome a group of smart, talented and curious individuals to the team. Over the next six weeks these developers will evolve their skills to earn the title of Software Engineer I. This program has been broken down into three two-week sections: software engineering fundamentals, web development and server side development.
Every week we will meet a new developer from the program and a future member of the Daugherty Dev Center.

Nathan Brown has a passion for problem solving. After graduating from high school, he attended the Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics and Computing, a two-year residential early college entrance program on Northwest Missouri State University’s campus. After completing this program, and clocking hours of research experience in genetics and solid-state physics, he made the move to Oberlin College to earn his bachelor’s degree in physics. With his diploma in hand, Nathan returned to his home state of Missouri to continue his education at Washington University in St. Louis where he is currently wrapping up his Doctor of Philosophy in Elementary Particle Physics. As you can see, Nathan is passionate about education. In fact, while conducting thesis research he has spent time working as a teacher and a tutor for students enrolled in high school and university STEM courses.
With the end of his PhD program approaching, Nathan knew that he wanted to work in a collaborative environment that would encourage him to develop his software engineering skills, but he also desired to continue to test his limits as a problem solver. That’s where Team Daugherty has come in. When Nathan learned about the Daugherty University program and the exciting work that he would be able to do for Daugherty’s clients, he knew that consulting was the industry for him. We are so glad to have him on board and we can’t wait to see where this journey will take him!
Over the years, Nathan has spent much of his free time relaxing in Forest Park, exploring City Museum and enjoying local restaurants. He used to play ultimate Frisbee or participate in local board game nights as well, but over the last two months the use of his free time has changed a little bit. Now, he enjoys caring for his two-month old daughter, Nyssa. She keeps him busy, but he loves every minute of it!
Nathan and the rest of the group are well into the third week of the Daugherty University program and they have already learned so much. Nathan is excited to be doing something he enjoys and can’t wait to hit the ground running when it is time for him to start working with clients. If you are in St. Louis, stop by the Dev Center and introduce yourself to Nathan — he is really looking forward to meeting the rest of Team Daugherty!
