Maybe The Civil War Wasn’t Such A Good Idea

A mini story

It’s generally accepted the Civil War preserved the Union in 1861 and was a tough but necessary action for our relatively young nation. It ended slavery in our country. The United States grew to become the dominant global superpower less than a century later.

Map of blue and rad states in the 2020 election.

But maybe, just maybe, we’ve reached the point for a reassessment.

Let’s look at what we, as a nation, got for our troubles. Essentially, we got the red states in the South. Joining them have been states that run up the middle of the continent to Canada. States like Kansas, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Montana, and Idaho. The entire red group are states that can’t manage to carry their own water.

Wouldn’t we, the blue states, be better off without them?

Imagine a New America consisting of the blue states. The Pacific states, Minnesota, Michigan, and the Northeast states. And let’s not forget Hawaii. We would still be THE superpower economically and militarily if so desired.

Chances of passing progressive legislation would dramatically increase. Gun control, financial sector regulations, union protections, renewable energy and a Supreme Court that wasn’t rigged by Trump. What do we have to lose? We may be left with no other choice very soon. The Republican Coup is already in play for 2024. The Democrats are doing nothing to stop it. The result, after the take over of 2024, could be a New America much improved. If the blue states hold together, and form a New America, we may be surprised by how well things could turn out.
