Ballad of the Worthy Helm: A Satirical Ode to Presidential Intent

In the race for the White House and its grand power,

Many vie for the chance to preside in the tower.

But in this sweet contest of political spree,

Consider, dear reader, what the reasons should be.

Not for ego nor gold nor a fit of the spleen,

Not for vengeance so cold in the political scene,

The heart of the matter, if we’re honest and just,

Is to serve, and to better, as a leader must.

Would you till the fields of the economic soil,

Turn barren to bounty, ease the worker’s toil?

Would you stand up for rights, civil, broad and diverse,

Tending to the Nation’s wounds, acting as its nurse?

If you pledge to protect the environment’s song,

Preserve forest and river, where we all belong,

And tweak the cogs of the monetary machine,

Then, dear friend, a run for the office is keen.

If foreign policy is your masterful art,

Shaping peace from chaos, playing your part,

And if you’d elevate our Nation’s fine name,

Both home and abroad, in the global game.

If these are your reasons, then by all means, strive!

Our democracy thrives when such leaders arrive.

But remember, it’s service that must lead the quest,

Not self-promotion or a personal jest.

Does revenge fuel ambition, can such a flame lead?

Is that the captain’s call in our hour of need?

Our nation, it teeters on the precipice’ edge,

2024’s choice will decide the pledge.

We can follow our founders, their wisdom and grit,

Or fall to revenge, a hollow, dark pit.

In this noble struggle, the stakes are high,

For the soul of the nation, under the wide, open sky.

In wisdom let us cast our vote, with careful heed declare,

For the leader who serves truly, not the one who strips us bare.

Ambition born of self, and petty vengeful strife,

Are not the finale envisioned, in our democratic life.

We yearn for a leader, both strong and kind,

Who’ll heal and unite, not fracture the mind,

So here’s to the future, to service and peace,

May we choose well, and may our better natures increase!
