I get the theory behind pitch tunneling, but I fail to see why this should be a factor in discussing who is a better pitcher when there appears to be no correlation between it and success on the mound.

Yes, there are some big names at the top of that board like Kershaw and Darvish, but there are also some names that I’ll kindly call below-average like Pomeranz and Weaver. Conversely, if you take a look towards the bottom of the table you’ll see guys like Sale, Hamels and Lester in addition to Scherzer. You’ll also see some less-than-impressive names like Pineada and Norris.
