Should We All Switch To Credit Unions?
Ester Bloom

I’ve belonged to my credit union for 43 years. It’s always been great. Over that time I’ve never paid a penny to have a checking account. All my kids and stepkids and grandkids have accounts too. For the life of me I don’t understand why anyone would NOT use a credit union instead of a bank.

That being said, my credit union has for 6–8 years now paid 0.05% (yes, that’s one twentieth of one per cent) on savings, so I keep most of our cash savings at Ally Bank. Their 1% is not exactly exciting but it’s 20 times what my credit union pays.
