Fortunately, we have a lot of work to do.
Google re-imagined what it meant to organize the world’s information. Uber changed the way we think about something as simple as how we drive. Facebook made a simple tweak to how we connect with friends and now touches billions.
Twitter (thanks!) and now Medium (thanks again!) changed the entire way we communicate with the world by thinking differently about the way we connect and share.
There are still entire parts of our lives that Just. Don’t. Work.
Whether we think about Banking and Finance, Healthcare, Education, our Legal System or many other industries — swaths of our daily lives are stuck in what feels like the Stone Ages…for now.
Not to mention the billions of people on the planet who are disconnected from our modern ways of living.
These industries and old ways will be upgraded. New entrants are emerging everyday, and sure it will take time, but the dinosaurs have baby pre-Unicorn innovators coming for them. The technological forces at work — increasing transparency, miniaturization, cloud computing, ubiquitous mobility — are too powerful for legacy ways to resist.
So, I’m sadly going to have to disagree with your take on this, because there is just way too much work to do.
Thankfully, legions of entrepreneurs have their heads down doing the hard work it is going to take to bring us to that inevitably better tomorrow that we can almost see on the horizon if we stare hard enough.
