I volume-up Estelle’s “Thank You” from 2012, and it is still gives me the goosies. Musically, lyrically, and vocally, it’s a modern masterpiece and masterclass. In my paradigm of modern masterpieces, “Thank You” is up there with “Adorn” by Miguel, “The Worst” by Jhené Aiko, and “Run” by Marsha Ambrosius. Maybe I’m partial to “Thank You” because I love Estelle. I love her vibe, I love her artistry, and I love her beauty. It shines through her voice, and it touches and soothes, like fleeting sunrays at sunset, or like the sunrise itself. So Estelle, I thank you.

If your love Estelle like I do, you can follow her on Twitter and Instagram at @estelledarlings. Also, she has new music out, “Lovers Rock”, which tastes like soul coupled with a sweet tinge of old-school reggae. Which reminds me of another reason I love Estelle. She’s brilliant at blending different musical genres into her work, whilst maintaining her distinct soulful sound.
