How to prepare for a startup accelerator

Congrats! You’re in. you made it through the application process and the interviews and here you are heading off to join the next cohort of that startup accelerator.

You’re probably wondering what it’s going to be like and what to do next. You should be — what you do right now will dramatically affect what you’re about to experience. And what you experience will directly affect the success of failure of your company.

Serious business, huh?

When I think back to my experience as part of the season 7 cohort of the NUMA startup accelerator in Paris, I wonder what advice I’d give myself as I packed my bags in Australia and Corilla shipped off to France.

Here’s an attempt at collecting some of that in a quick list — let me know if you want more information or if there’s anything else I can help with.

The door was wide open for Corilla’s first day at the NUMA accelerator.

1. Ask a lot of questions of accelerator alumni

I assume you’ve done your due diligence already on the accelerator and the team running it. Now you’re a part of the family you can ask more questions at scale.

Accelerators like NUMA have lists of all the alumni companies. This would be a good time to get in touch with as many as possible and ask them about their experience.
