Apple OS Upgrade
My MacBook Pro is once again prompting me for an OS upgrade. This time, it’s for the new Mac OS called Sierra. I tend to be an early adopter, but this time I will pass.
The last 2 major OS X updates from Apple both made my daily computing experience worse. By a lot. Mostly, things just got slower. Without a lot of benefits.
And this week, my wife got an automatic iOS update on her phone. And she hates it. Buggy and slow. And I have been hearing lots of similar reports.
A lot of the features of Apple’s newer OS’s are related to Apples’s cloud offerings. But I don’t use any of those. I use mostly cloud services from Google and Amazon. And I don’t need Siri on my Mac. I have Google Now.
To summarize, I have lost some confidence in Apple. From here on in, I will assume, unless proven otherwise, that Apple OS updates will make my computer worse— not better.
My next major OS update may be away from Apple altogether.
