That is exactly how we learn to write English. We start with learning to draw lines and circles. Look at any child’s first scrawls. Then we learn letters, then move to words, then sentences etc.

It’s also how we learn math, by learning to read and write simple symbols, like 0123456789 (which is more universal than ABCDEFG by the way).

It doesn’t end there, of course. But to my knowledge, nobody has ever said it did.
